Tottenham likely to miss out on Rabiot, but Winks’ rise makes that irrelevant

It looks as though Tottenham Hotspur won’t be signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot this month.

The north Londoners had been touted as a potential destination for the Frenchman, after being dropped from the first-team as he runs down his contract at the Parc des Princes.

As things currently stand, Rabiot will be able to leave PSG for nothing at the end of the season and the midfielder has reportedly been angling for a move this month.

Barcelona appear to be his likeliest move and Liverpool have also been mentioned.

Spurs were also in the mix, but ESPN reported recently that the player felt Tottenham were ‘below his level’.

That may have stung at the time, but the continued form of one player in particular means Spurs wouldn’t be missing out.

Winks is Tottenham’s top technician

Midfielder Harry Winks is having a fantastic season.

The Englishman is finally enjoying an extending run in the first-team having covered for the injured Mousa Dembele, who has now been sold to Guangzhou R&F, and Victor Wanyama.

Winks has become an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s team over the past couple of months.

Winks was brilliant once again against Fulham at the weekend and scored a last-gasp winner for his efforts.

Spurs won’t be signing Rabiot in January, but Winks’ rise and consistency arguably means they won’t be missing out.

Winks has proven himself to be a fine technician with an excellent passing range, two things associated with Rabiot.
