Tottenham likely to be ‘forced’ to make two key signings in the summer transfer window

Ahead of the summer transfer window, it seems as if Tottenham Hotspur have already begun thinking about their most important targets.

Ange Postecoglou will of course welcome Lucas Bergvall to the club in the off-season, a special young talent who should make an impression immediately.

But even with Spurs’ January business considered, it’s clear that further work will need to be done.

Ange Postecoglou’s tenure has started with incredible promise, but Saturday’s defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers proved there’s still work to be done.

In fact, performances in February as a whole so far will probably be useful when establishing how to best approach the summer window.

Although not poor by any means, Spurs’ performances have provided Postecoglou with food for thought.

And according to football.london, Tottenham will have likely already identified two key targets for the summer on the back of Saturday’s shortcomings.

Alasdair Gold was explaining the fall out from the defeat in his report, and mentioned that Spurs could be ‘forced’ into two moves.

The report explained that Emerson Royal and Ben Davies will have caused real concern with their performances stepping in for Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie respectively on Saturday.

That’s not because they’re poor players, rather they don’t suit a role that often sees Porro or Udogie inverting into a number 10 position in midfield.

Both tried valiantly, but Gold felt as if Tottenham will be forced to find two new targets to replace the pair in the summer.

Moreover, the journalist did also believe that a centre-back with high technical ability could also suffice, providing they were capable out wide.

Of course, replacing popular figures such as Royal and Davies will be a part of Spurs’ upwards trajectory under Postecoglou.

Perhaps Davies will still stay around, he’s an excellent player to have in the squad, but Royal could easily leave, especially given the interest he had last month.

And with all that considered, it seems as if Ange Postecoglou will have a better chance of disrupting the Premier League’s top three next season.

Which explains what Postecoglou has now been saying behind the scenes at the club.
