Tottenham: Italian giants target midfielder; Fulham youngster targeted; two chase right-back

Tottenham Hotspur started their Premier League season on Saturday with a commendable 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. Danish star Christian Eriksen played in the game, but has been the subject of a certain amount of speculation recently thanks to a dispute over an improved contract, and now Italian giants Juventus are rumoured to be monitoring his situation.

Eriksen, who currently earns around £30,000 per week, stunned his club by demanding a fivefold increase in his wage to £150,ooo, and although insisting he is happy at White Hart Lane, it hasn’t stopped a number of clubs declaring their interest in the Dane.

Juventus would be a positive move for Eriksen, who is of clear Champions League quality and is a real star turn in the Tottenham team. His precise passing and exquisite vision is matched only by his dead ball abilities, which will be essential if Spurs are to launch another title challenge. Although he still has a number of things to iron out, and is still slightly inconsistent, but Spurs simply cannot lose the Dane.

Mauricio Pochettino has still only made two signings this window, but a new name has been linked with becoming the club’s third summer signing in the shape of 16-year-old Fulham left back Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon only made his debut last week in the EFL Cup for the West London club, but is already the subject of a lot of interest from Premier League clubs, and it is thought that a bid of around £3 million might be enough to secure the services of the talented full-back.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with Sessegnon, but Spurs are very keen to win the race, and are reportedly willing to throw in a player on loan to sweeten the deal with the Championship club. Sessegnon is obviously not a signing for today, but in terms of building for the future, it could be a very good move for Spurs.

Whilst one full back might be joining Spurs in the shape of Sessegnon, another may be leaving the club, with DeAndre Yedlin being linked with moves to both Derby County and Hull City.

23-year-old Yedlin joined Tottenham from Seattle Sounders in 2014, but spent last season on loan at Sunderland, and finds himself as third choice right-back in the Spurs squad, well behind the likes of Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier.

Still a raw talent, Yedlin is a class above the field in terms of pace, but still lacks a real defensive brain, and a move to either Derby in the Championship or Hull in the Premier League would allow him first team football to kick start his career.

Hull’s struggles have been well documented, with just 13 outfield players fit for their season opener against Leicester City, so Yedlin could well fill a void there. Meanwhile Derby are looking to break into the Premier League for the first time in nine seasons, and a player with top flight experience like Yedlin could be the sort of boost they need.
