Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City’s James Maddison this summer.

According to the Mirror, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to land the English playmaker.

It is understood that the North London club could pocket £72million if they win the Champions League final against Liverpool at the weekend.

The report details that Maddison could be targeted with that prize money in the summer window.

Maddison is an extremely exciting talent that made a brilliant impact at the King Power Stadium this season and didn’t struggle when stepping up to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder played 38 games across all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying seven assists in return.

He’s the type of player that could develop into a superstar under Pochettino and would be a great addition for Spurs.

But the potential arrival of Spurs should sent some alarm bells ringing for Dele Alli.

Alli, who cost £5million (BBC), has been a brilliant attacking midfielder in recent years for Spurs.

His form has nosedived slightly though over the last year and he’s not been able to reach the levels he’s capable of.

Maddison would certainly stiffen up competition if he did join Spurs and would surely be a great rival for Alli for a spot in the team.
