Report: Tottenham are now frontrunners to sign 'phenomenal' £19m left-footer

Tottenham Hotspur have moved ahead of the pack when it comes to the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender, Evan Ndicka, according to Foot Mercato.

The French outlet reports how Marseille have been keen to bring Ndicka to Ligue 1 but there are doubts over whether they have the cash to complete the deal. With that, Tottenham are now said to be in pole position to sign the Frenchman, who won the Europa League with Frankfurt this season.

Ndicka has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time. Indeed, he was being watched before Antonio Conte arrived, and has clearly impressed enough to remain on their list of targets. Picked out by Adi Hutter for having what he called ‘phenomenal’ development as a teenager, Ndicka has grown and grown since then.

Frankfurt are thought to be demanding around £19m for their man. That figure, of course, is a bargain buy for big clubs when it comes to the modern market. And with Ndicka only being 22, Tottenham will see plenty of potential in the France under-21 star.

Tottenham are keen on signing a new left-footed defender to play with Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

TBR’s View: Ndicka Could Be The Bargain Tottenham Need

Spurs have been linked with a whole host of defenders this summer already. But the likes of Gvardiol, Bastoni, and Pau Torres all come with huge price tags.

That’s where a deal for Evan Ndicka might be the way forward. If that £19m figure is right, then he is bar far the cheapest option on Spurs’ list. Of course, cheaper doesn’t always mean worst either, and Spurs will be keen to explore where Ndicka fits.

At a time when Tottenham are so busy in the market, it’s easy to see why Ndicka is being linked again.
