One problem area for Tottenham Hotspur this season has been the right-back position. This summer the club allowed Kieran Trippier to join Atletico Madrid. They were also prepared to let Serge Aurier depart but found no suitable buyer.
It left them relying on Kyle Walker-Peters. With Juan Foyth also injured, they have even played Davinson Sanchez in the role. As for Aurier, he has been brought in from the cold. All in all, it has become something of a mess.
So it will not help to hear that one of the scorers in yesterday’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City could have been at Tottenham solving that problem.

Ricardo Pereira scored the equaliser for the Foxes yesterday and was heavily linked with Tottenham in the past.
When Leicester secured the Portuguese defender last summer, talkSPORT reported that Tottenham had tried to sign Pereira as a replacement for Kyle Walker in 2017. They also suggested that Tottenham were interested again last term.
The Telegraph reported that Pereira was Tottenham’s ‘top target’ after impressing on loan at French side Nice. However, he remained at Porto and Tottenham ended up signing Aurier.
Pereira returned to Porto and thrived before Leicester snapped him up in a deal reported (Goal) to be worth around £17.5 million. He has since gone on to prove himself a top talent in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur must be wishing they had managed to secure his services.
Instead, Tottenham are still scratching around to find their favoured right-back option.
