Tottenham Hotspur trial Marcel Lavinier and Tobi Omole on trial after release by London rivals

Tottenham Hotspur are clearly looking to bring in some new talent to the club’s under-23 team and are running the rule over two players from London rivals with a view to signing them this summer.

Spurs took on Arsenal in PL2 action this weekend and came away with a 1-0 win against their main rivals. Rodel Richards scored the only goal of the game but the more interesting aspect of the game was the two trialists on display for Spurs.

Marcel Lavinier started the game whilst Tobi Omole was on the bench and came on for Dermi Lusala in the second-half.

Lavinier is a London-born Portugal under-18 international who was released by Chelsea this summer. Also capable at both centre-back and right-wing the 19-year-old will be hoping to secure a professional contract with his countryman Jose Mourinho’s side.

Omole was released by Tottenham’s most fierce rivals Arsenal and can play both as a central midfielder or across the back-line.

It would seem Spurs are simply casting an eye over these two London-based talents to see if they can strengthen the under-23 options at Spurs for the rest of the season, so Tottenham fans should not get excited about either as a first-team prospect right now.

However, should they impress and earn deals, there is no reason why the pair could not thrive at Tottenham and become first-team stars in the future.
