Tottenham Hotspur fans are likely already very impressed by new signing Steven Bergwijn. The Dutchman scored a crucial goal on his debut following his £25 million (The Guardian) switch as Spurs defeated Manchester City 2-0 in their last Premier League outing.
Seeing Bergwijn have such a memorable debut certainly resonated with one current PSV player. Speaking to Voetbal International, as reported by Voetbal Primeur, youngster Mohamed Ihattaren spoke warmly of seeing Bergwijn succeed.
“Of course I dream of top clubs, a big competition, the Champions League.
“When I see Steven Bergwijn at Tottenham Hotspur, I enjoyed it immensely. When he recently scored on his debut, I shed a tear. a big club and you come in so great. I really wish him that, he is my buddy.”
So should Tottenham look to bring in Ihattaren and reunite him with his former team-mate?
There is certainly space for him in the team. Christian Eriksen’s £16.9 million (BBC) move to Inter Milan means Tottenham have a gap in the market for another attacking midfielder and his ability to also play wide makes him a versatile option.
He is also in great form this season. The 18-year-old has scored nine goals and assisted another nine this season and has lingering hopes of making the Dutch team for this summer’s European Championships.
As reported by Eindhovens Dagblad, Ihattaren recently switched agents to Mino Raiola, prompting speculation regarding a potential summer transfer.
If he is looking for a way out, then Tottenham must consider the idea of putting him and Bergwijn back together.
