Jan Vertonghen sees no problems in extending his contract at Tottenham Hotspur. The centre-back is a key player for Spurs and is currently away on international duty with Belgium.
Unlike his club and country defensive partner Toby Alderweireld, the former Ajax man has told the press in his homeland that he expects Tottenham to extend his contract beyond the summer.
Vertonghen is therefore expected to have his contract extended by the end of the year.
De Jong competition
It seems Tottenham Hotspur have a fight on their hands in their pursuit of Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong.
Spurs have reportedly identified the £40 million-rated midfielder as the long-term successor to Mousa Dembele in the heart of the midfield.
However, Barcelona are also keen. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will now look to make a move for the player in January to stop Tottenham get in ahead of them.
They view De Jong as long-term successor to Ivan Rakitic in their midfield.
Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has been slammed by his international boss. Kenya head coach Sebastien Migne claims the Spurs man has been unprofessional in not travelling out for medical assessment ahead of their game with Ghana.
Tottenham declared Wanyama unavailable as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
