Tottenham Hotspur round-up: Vertonghen on Ajax, Pochettino on rumours and Dembele injury

A selection of the latest news and gossip from Tottenham Hotspur.

Vertonghen on Ajax return

Jan Vertonghen has been discussing his future. The Belgian’s contract in North London is due to end in 2020 and he has been linked with a potential exit from Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, as reported by Sports Witness, he admitted he could one day see himself back at former club Ajax as they are ‘in his heart’.

However, he also made it clear he was currently very happy at Spurs.

‘Rumours are rumours’

Speaking to the press ahead of their game with Crystal Palace this weekend manager Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed reports of a £15 million-a-year to take over at Real Madrid in the wake of Julen Lopetegui’s sacking.

The Argentine exclaimed ‘rumours are rumours’ in response to the apparent link.

Dembele out

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is unlikely to play for the club again in 2018 after an ankle injury.

The Belgian suffered the problem in the 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in midweek and it is confirmed he will be out until the New Year.
