Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth is set for a shock international call-up. According to Diario Hoy, the young defender will be called up for the Argentina squad in October as the Albiceleste look to youth in an attempt to build for the future.
The centre-back has missed most of the season so far with an injury problem but has recently returned to training ahead of a comeback.
But a first call-up for Argentina would certainly appear to come at an odd time considering his recent inactivity.
Hugo Lloris has stepped up his recovery from a thigh injury, according to reports. The Frenchman has been out with the injury in recent weeks with Michel Vorm replacing him.
The Dutchman is now also out with a knee injury. Paulo Gazzaniga still looks likely to feature in the Carabao Cup clash with MK Dons this week.
De Jong battle
Reports are suggesting that Real Madrid could blow Tottenham out of the water in the chase for Ajax star Frenkie de Jong.
The Dutchman, who is also wanted by Barcelona and Manchester United, has been earmarked as a perfect replacement for Mousa Dembele in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield.
De Telegraaf is reporting that Real have decided the Dutchman is the perfect replacement for Luka Modric at the Bernabeu.
A £70 million offer is reportedly in the offing, a fee Tottenham would struggle to match.
