Tottenham Hotspur have encouraged Manchester United into making a new approach for Toby Alderweireld after his return from World Cup duty with Belgium.
Yahoo Sport report that the Red Devils previously balked at Tottenham’s £75 million asking price. However, with Spurs afraid he could leave for £25 million next season due to a clause in his contract, they have now contacted United to try and push through a deal.
The teams will need to compromise on a price if Tottenham are to let the 29-year-old leave.
Tanguy Ndombele is not leaving Lyon this summer. The midfield dynamo had been linked with a move to Spurs this summer, with a reported transfer fee of £53 million being mentioned.
Speaking to Get French Football News, RMC transfer report Loic Tanzi made it clear that Ndombele will not leave Lyon.
He has just one year of top-flight experience and wants to continue with Lyon for the time being. Ndombele had been tipped as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele.
Nine Tottenham hotspur first-team players will miss the club’s tour of the US this season after World Cup duty.
England’s Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier and Dele Alli are all still in Russia along with Belgium’s Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen. France’s Hugo Lloris will be playing in the final on Sunday.
Spurs face Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan in the US this month.
