Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Ajax defender Sergino Dest, according to Football.London and they might look into a potential deal for the player.
Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold was responding to a question regarding Spurs trying to consolidate their growing position in the American market by signing a USMNT player.
He stated that whilst that was not necessary, due to their successful links with the NFL, Tottenham ‘certainly like’ Dest and he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Tottenham see if he is a financially viable option this summer. He then warned of Barcelona’s interest in the player, which would be a tough transfer battle.

Last month it was reported by Calciomercato that Tottenham are keen on Dest whilst Bleacher Report claimed last October that Spurs were looking at the player.
The 19-year-old has emerged as a great talent for Ajax this season. The teenager has made the right-back slot his own at the Amsterdam ArenA and that has clearly caught the eye of Tottenham’s scouting department.
Spurs need a new right-back, with Serge Aurier their only current option after the sale of Kieran Trippier last summer.
Finances will, of course, be the key. A recent report from SPORT regarding Barcelona’s interest in the player suggested a €20 million price-tag (£17.8m), which would usually be an affordable amount.
But Tottenham need to keep costs down amid the current global health crisis and even such a seemingly reasonable fee might be beyond them this term.
