Tottenham Hotspur news round-up: Grealish bid, Dembele interest and Dier ‘superstition’

All the latest news and gossip from Tottenham Hotspur.

Grealish bid made

Tottenham Hotspur have made a bid for Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish. Sky Sports reports that despite the English midfielder not originally being a transfer target for Spurs, news of Villa’s current financial troubles have seen the London club take a swipe.

The fee involved is said to be in the region of £15 million with the likes of Chelsea, Fulham and Leicester City also keeping tabs on the player.

Tottenham are hoping to avoid a bidding war by agreeing a move fast and luring the talented 22-year-old to North London this summer.

Dembele bids

Mousa Dembele’s future continues to look like being away from Tottenham. A report from Sky Sports Italia this week has suggested Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli are all keen on signing the Belgian this summer.

The report suggests a fee in the region of £26.4 million could be enough to sign the midfield maestro. Despite being one of Mauricio Pochettino’s favourites, the 30-year-old is yet to agree to a new deal at the club and has a history of injury trouble in the past. With that in mind, Spurs are ready to cash in at the right price.

Dier fine

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has dismissed claims he is currently struggling with an injury. The 24-year-old, who is in Russia with the England World Cup squad, is currently fighting to feature in midfield with Jordan Henderson of Liverpool.

He was spotted sporting heavy leg strapping on his left thigh during training this week, suggesting he might be carrying a knock. But he confirmed to the press that there is no such issue and that he is currently wearing the strapping as ‘superstition’.
