Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe over the past few months. The Ivory Coast winger, according to The Times, is of interest to Spurs who see him as a potential top star in the making.
Rightly so. Pepe has been in fantastic form. The Lille attacker has 17 goals and 11 assists from 28 games this season.
Now the words of Lille’s sporting director should have Tottenham readying the chequebook. Speaking to Telefoot, Luis Campos stated that Lille are ‘not a rich club’ and might have to sell the winger if ‘a really good proposal’ comes in.

Those words should have Tottenham interested. Pepe is exactly the sort of player that could thrive at Tottenham
Previous reports, such as one from The Sun, have suggested that Lille want £72 million for the player.
But these comments suggest that Tottenham could get Pepe with a reasonable bid, or perhaps even using one of their fringe players as a makeweight in any potential deal.
After two transfer windows without signing a single player, Tottenham will surely want to change that fact in the summer. Starting a conversation with Lille for the services of Pepe would certainly be a tonic.
