Tottenham Hotspur must keep track of Ante Rebic as he returns with a bang

Croatia’s excellent World Cup displays had plenty of teams looking at the nation’s star players. One such player was Ante Rebic. The forward had enjoyed an excellent end to the season with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and was a star for Croatia in Russia.

One team heavily linked with his signature were Tottenham Hotspur. As reported by The Sun, Spurs were considering a £26 million move for the player. It was certainly a deal that made sense. Rebic could provide central striking cover and is also capable from the wing. He could have been a perfect addition.

Unfortunately for Rebic, he returned from the World Cup worse for wear. He suffered a hip problem against Bayern Munich in the German Supercup and spent a month out of action.

But now he is back, and with a bang. Rebic made his comeback in a late cameo v RB Leipzig at the weekend, seeing two good efforts saved by Peter Gulacsi. He came on again last night, scoring his side’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach. Soon enough Rebic will be back starting for Frankfurt, considering how important he is to the side.

Tottenham must be keeping track of his performances. At 25-years-old he is the perfect age and can only get better if Spurs bring him in. He would provide cover in a much-needed position and Tottenham would be the perfect place for him to continue growing as a player.

This is one World Cup star that Tottenham should continue to monitor going forward.
