Tottenham Hotspur must find buyer for controversial signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou’s initial move to Tottenham Hotspur was far from smooth. He joined the club in a reported £9.4 million deal in the summer of 2016. Clearly, somebody at Spurs desperately wanted the Frenchman. Because, as reported by The Guardian, it was one of the more long-winded transfer sagas in recent memory.
Tottenham signed N’Koudou 40 days after his initial medical. It, reportedly, led to the breakdown in the former head of recruitment Paul Mitchell’s working relationship with the club. When Daniel Levy tried to restructure the deal, the game was stalled.
After all that hassle, Nkoudou must be something special.
Unfortunately, that has not been the case
Nkoudou has struggled to make it at Spurs and it seems he could be off in January. Monaco and Nice are reportedly keen, according to France Football.
Both are said to be keen on a loan signature, along with former club Marseille. But Tottenham will no doubt be pushing for a permanent exit.
The 24-year-old, a popular member of the Spurs dressing room, is clearly not part of the club’s plans and retrieving any of his original fee would be a big boost to the club’s own transfer hopes.
It would also bring to an end a sorry transfer saga.
