Tottenham Hotspur striker Kazaiah Sterling was allowed to head out on loan this summer, in a bid to find regular football.

The youngster had struggled during a spell at Sunderland last term and on this occasion, Tottenham fans and hierarchy were hopeful he could stay fit and find some form.

In the end, it was Darren Moore’s Doncaster Rovers who decided to take a punt on Sterling to strengthen their attacking ranks.

Last night saw the 20-year-old score what will hopefully be the first of many goals for his new club. Sterling scored to give Doncaster a 2-1 lead, just seven minutes after coming on to the pitch as a substitute.

The Tottenham talent steered home Alfie May’s excellent left-wing cross with a header as Doncaster went on to beat Lincoln City 3-1.

For Sterling, it was a much-needed goal to help him settle in at the Keepmoat and stake a claim for a starting place at his temporary residence.

Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a double-figure goal season for Tottenham’s talented striker. He faces an uphill battle making it at Spurs, after the recent emergence of Troy Parrott. So Sterling must now build on this chance to make his parent club take notice.
