Spurs succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool with Toby Alderweirdeld’s own goal in the last minute sealing their fate.

Lucas Moura restored parity following Roberto Firmino’s opener and Spurs could have gone on to win the game.

Moussa Sissoko, in particular, was guilty of missing the best chances of the game. He put his effort high and wide when it looked easier to hit the target.

Spurs are now in a serious battle to maintain their place in the top-four. Not securing Champions League football at their new stadium next season would represent a real disaster.

Hugo Lloris was once again in the firing line from Spurs supporters after Liverpool’s winning goal.

His haphazard attempt at claiming a Mo Salah header eventually saw the ball ricochet into the net off the unfortunate Alderweireld.

It isn’t the first time the World Cup winning goalkeeper has looked suspect this season and the supporters appear to be losing patience.

The 32-year-old could face a fight for his future at the club beyond this season if he doesn’t sort his suspect form out.
