Portugal won the UEFA Nations League yesterday evening with a 1-0 win against The Netherlands. A solitary goal from Goncalo Guedes proved enough for Portugal to claim the title.

There was plenty of Premier League interest in the game. Not only because of players currently at English clubs, but because of ones that could soon be.

One such player was Bruno Fernandes. He has been linked with a host of teams this summer. Most recently, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Sporting Lisbon star.

As reported by Record earlier this week, Fernandes favours a move to Tottenham. The Mirror also reported on the news recently, suggesting a £71 million price-tag on the player.

Tottenham fans need only look at the 24-year-old’s stats to be excited at the prospect of him joining. Fernandes scored 32 goals and assisted 18 last season from 53 appearances for Sporting.

However, many have probably not yet seen him play in the flesh. Which is why the Nations League final last night was perfectly timed.

Plenty of Tottenham fans tuned in to watch and were not disappointed with Fernandes’ excellent display in the heart of the Portugal midfield.

With Christian Eriksen’s future at the club in doubt, plenty of Tottenham fans are now hoping that Fernandes might be the man to replace him.
