Tottenham Hotspur fans react to reports of interest in Gerson

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to make an offer for Flamengo midfielder Gerson, according to Goal.

It is claimed that Spurs are willing to pay up to €18 million (£16.2m) for the player, who has been a star in Flamengo’s excellent recent form. 

The 23-year-old reportedly caught the eye of Jose Mourinho and Tottenham have been tracking him since last December as a consequence. 

Whilst it is also suggested that Gerson is happy at Flamengo, Tottenham are clearly hopeful they can convince him to turn his back on his homeland and make a move to North London. 

So what do the Tottenham fans make of it?

Gerson is clearly a top midfield option and Spurs need to strengthen their options in that area of the pitch. 

Some have therefore been encouraged by the news that Spurs are indeed looking into Gerson as a potential arrival. 

However, others have their doubts. 

Not only do many not believe Tottenham will be spending any money this summer, others wonder whether Gerson, whose previous move to Europe with Roma proved to be something of a disappointment, is cut out for football in the Premier League.
