Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly scouting former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, according to The Mirror.
The report claims that the Bosnia-Herzegovina striker is considered by Jose Mourinho as a potential back-up option to current number one striker Harry Kane.
The 33-year-old is still a regular at current side Roma and scored 50 Premier League goals in his four-and-a-half seasons in England. This season, the striker has scored eight goals in 19 games for the Giallorossi.
It would certainly be an interesting move and would go against the grain regarding the club’s recent history of signing players over 30.
But Dzeko is clearly still a major goal-threat and would be a great addition to the side as Kane’s back-up.
Another issue, however, could be Dzeko’s contract. The striker signed a new deal in August to keep him at Roma until 2022. So he would not come cheap and Tottenham would have to pay big to get their man.
Here is how Tottenham fans have reacted to the report.
