Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son has been discussing his recent injury lay-off. The South Korean picked up a broken arm against Aston Villa last month.
Speaking to the Tottenham Hotspur official website, Son confirmed the suspicions that he suffered the broken arm in the opening minute of the game.
“I still remember the game, and this was my first action after maybe 20, 30 seconds.
“I kept playing, I don’t know how. I could feel it in the game, yes, but it was so important, I didn’t want to say I couldn’t play because of my arm and tried to keep going to help the team.
“I wanted to play the in the Leipzig game (19 February), I wanted to play against Chelsea (22 February) as well, but I went to hospital, had an X-ray and couldn’t believe it when I saw the pictures. It was very sad news.”
The injury did not seem to bother Son. The South Korean went on to inspire Jose Mourinho’s side to a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park. Son scored the winning goal in the 90th minute in an inspired display from the South Korean, who has picked up fan favourite status during his time at Tottenham.
Since that win, Tottenham have failed to register another and the absence of Son has been keenly felt.

Tottenham’s season is, of course, now on hold for the foreseeable future amid the global health crisis. With Tottenham’s campaign floundering, it might give the likes of Son and Harry Kane time to recover from their respective injuries.
If the season does get back underway, Son could be available to help Tottenham try and claw their way back into contention for the top four and Champions League qualification.
As for Son, his efforts with a broken arm have just helped to make him an even more appreciated cult figure at Tottenham Hotspur.
