Tottenham Hotspur fans took to Twitter to comment on Harry Winks’ showing against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Englishman was selected to start by Mauricio Pochettino, with injuries ruling out Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
It was a bold move by the Argentine, with Winks his least experienced first-team midfielder.

That said, he shone last season against Real Madrid in the same competition.
Despite Tottenham’s 4-2 defeat at Wembley, Winks had a decent game, and has perhaps thrown his name into the hat for the weekend Premier League clash with Cardiff City.
Certainly he grew into the game, and definitely finished stronger than he started.
A lasting impression
Winks definitely reminded a few people what he’s all about.
In the game he demonstrated good vision and passing, and worked his socks off trying to harry the Barcelona midfielders.
It was also going to be a tough ask to completely nullify the likes of Sergio Busquets, Arthur, Philippe Coutinho and Lionel Messi – especially the latter, who decided to put on a total masterclass.

But Winks was by no means out of his depth.
He proved that he can mix it with the best, just as he did last season against Barca’s fiercest rivals.
Social media buzz
After the game, fans took to social media to share their thoughts, and Winks came in for praise, particularly for his efforts in the second half:
