Tottenham Hotspur picked up an impressive win in the Champions League last night, defeating Red Star Belgrade in their home fortress 4-0. Two goals from Heung-min Son were sandwiched by Giovani Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen strikes to give spurs a well-deserved win in Belgrade.

Plenty of players came away from the game with credit and fans were quick to praise many of them on Twitter.

One of those players was Eric Dier.

The England international has struggled with form in recent times, although injury and illness has played its part.

Dier was slotted in at centre-back alongside Davinson Sanchez yesterday, the position he started his career in at Sporting Lisbon before being transformed into a central midfielder at Spurs.

Whilst he had his shaky moments, which is to be expected considering the 25-year-old has barely featured for the club this season, he generally put in a solid display in the position.

His runs from the back also added an extra dimension for Tottenham Hotspur and it is clear this is a position Dier could make his own if given the chance by Mauricio Pochettino. Considering Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen’s recent poor form, plenty of Tottenham fans appear happy with that as an option…
