Reports in Spain are suggesting that Christian Eriksen may have already agreed his exit from Tottenham Hotspur. AS are claiming that a verbal agreement is in place and Real Madrid will now begin to do business with Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy.
It is reported that Real Madrid are hoping for a huge reduction on a previous €250 million valuation for the player. With the Dane about to enter the final year of his contract, Real now feel they can get Eriksen for less than €150 million (£128.7 million).
Eriksen’s future at Spurs has long been in doubt. Real Madrid are clearly keen, with a view he can be a long-term successor to former Spurs star Luka Modric.
Negotiations between the two clubs are often difficult but, as with Modric and Gareth Bale, Real Madrid usually get their man.
The reaction among Tottenham Hotspur fans has certainly been interesting. Many, predictably, are disappointed if this report proves true.
However, a huge amount of fans are also hopeful Tottenham sell their key playmaker. Perhaps it is something of a backlash from Eriksen’s tepid display v Ajax. But many feel that Eriksen’s mind is already made up regarding a future at the Bernabeu.
If that is the case, the view from a lot of Tottenham fans is to sell now. This will be the last chance Tottenham have to significantly cash in on the Danish star, considering his contract situation.
If they could get something near that £128.7 million fee, then selling Eriksen now does make sense.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
The people replying “good” to this really have no idea how vital he is to this team. He carries us every week and is the heartbeat of this team. Some of you won’t realise that until he does go. Such a shame a player like Chris can be under-appreciated

I understand it’s just rumors currently, but if we lose Eriksen, I will weep. I know it’s Zidane and Real, but how do you play for Poch in the new Tottenham stadium and have any desire to play anywhere else in the world?!! #COYS #THFC https://t.co/lMnqYnqQmt

The cynic in me thinks he agreed this weeks ago and has been told by RM to not push himself for the remainder of the season because that’s how it’s looked like he’s been playing.

Yep. Time to sell. Has gone stale at spurs. Great player for us but better for both if we move on.

Move him on. Get good money and make sure we sign a replacement

Eriksen has been mediocre the past few months ever since the Madrid rumors started and against Ajax he was just terrible. Couldn’t create any chances or link up play. Don’t mind us selling him and bringing in van de Beek

He’s amazing on his day but recently his head has been somewhere else
He has been great but gone missing in big games this season, last night classic example , the money they are talking too good to turn down
