‘Get a statue built’: Some Tottenham fans react as Romano drops ‘interesting’ update
Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting online, after Fabrizio Romano claimed Fabio Paratici is already working with Daniel Levy on appointing a new manager.
Paratici reached an agreement with Spurs to become the Premier League side’s new Director of Football over the weekend. He should be confirmed for the position in the coming days.
The 48-year-old had left his long-standing position as Juventus’ Chief Football Officer last week (BBC). One of his first tasks in north London will be in helping Levy find a successor for Jose Mourinho.
Levy pulled the plug on appointing former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte earlier this month (The Sun). The Tottenham Chairman believed the Italian’s demands of a £15million-a-year contract and £100m for transfers were more than the club could commit to.
He was also concerned that Conte would refuse to work on bringing through Tottenham’s academy products. Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is now back in the running for the vacant hot seat (Mirror).
Levy and Director of Technical Performance Steve Hitchen had assessed Ten Hag among their initial candidates after firing Mourinho. They now have renewed hope of hiring the 51-year-old, despite Ajax throwing a spanner into the works by extending his contract.
Tottenham fans react to Paratici update
Levy appointing Ten Hag would also gain the support of some Tottenham fans. That’s because a few are responding to Romano’s update by calling for Spurs to hire the Dutchman.
But he is not the clear favourite among supporters, as some would like Levy to revert his decision on Conte. They feel the Italian is the best man available to replace Mourinho.
So, here are some of the messages Tottenham fans are sharing in response to Romano’s update on Paratici…
