Tottenham Hotspur have lost their first game of the season after losing 2-1 to Watford, who now remain unbeaten. Tottenham led 1-0 in the game after an own goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure but they failed to take advantage of that lead.
Soon enough Watford were level through Troy Deeney before Craig Cathcart scored the winning goal.
Mousa Dembele certainly had a game to forget. He was out-jumped for the goal by the Watford defender and left Tottenham pointless.
The Belgian simply struggled to get to terms with the game. Playing with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli left him exposed and Dembele was certainly not looking like his best self.
Dembele is often described as the best player at Tottenham by those at the club. However, he has not been performing in such a way recently.
The Belgian was heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer. Even this weekend he has been linked with a move to Beijing Guoan in January.
Some Tottenham fans are seemingly of the impression that Dembele might have peaked. It appears that his age and injury trouble, with his contract problems on top, are contributing to poor form with his club.
