Tottenham Hotspur fans react to Mousa Dembele performance v England

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was sensational for Belgium last night.

Last night saw England’s B team lose 1-0 to Belgium’s B team as the dead rubber in World Cup Group G played out in mediocre fashion. Belgium now top the group and face Japan in the next round whilst England, in second, now have the arguably easier route to the semi-finals at least.

There were plenty of top performances in the Belgium side. Dedryck Boyata of Celtic was excellent at the back, Adnan Januzaj looked reborn on the right and Marouane Fellaini looked like the Everton version in midfield. But, undoubtedly the best performance from the Red Devils came from a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Mousa Dembele ran the show from the centre of midfield. The Tottenham maestro simply left England’s midfield chasing shadows for much of the game, as he has done to Premier League defences for years now.

Even the immensely physically gifted Ruben Loftus-Cheek found himself shrugged off the ball by Dembele with consummate ease.

The sheer brilliance of the midfielder, named the best player at Tottenham by any Spurs player you dare to ask, mirrored the limited ability of his co-worker Eric Dier in the England middle.

It is a crying shame that Dembele may leave Tottenham this summer. With his contract situation becoming difficult, Spurs are considering his sale. Teams in China are keen on concluding a deal, as well as some in Italy.

Wherever he does decide to go, they are getting their hands on one of Europe’s finest midfield operators…
