Tottenham Hotspur fans react as former player Josh Onomah hits form

Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing recent form has seen exasperated fans looking anywhere for a glimmer of hope.

That includes former players who might be performing at a high level, especially those to have come through the youth ranks at Tottenham.

That includes Josh Onomah, who has been in some of the best form of his career at promotion-chasing Fulham in the Championship.

Onomah looked like being a potential first-team regular under Mauricio Pochettino. He played 19 times in the 2015-16 campaign and scored his first goal the following campaign. But after mixed rewards on loan spells at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, Onomah was allowed to leave last summer.

The 23-year-old headed to Craven Cottage as part of the £25 million move that saw Ryan Sessegnon head to Tottenham. Onomah was later quoted by the London Evening Standard as stating he had a ‘point to prove’ to Spurs after his exit.

It has been a slow build and Onomah also needed knee surgery back in February. However, since the Championship restart he has been a key player for Fulham, scoring twice and providing one assist in his last four games.

That form has helped Fulham go on a four-game winning streak and remaining in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

Tottenham fans, on the other hand, have barely gotten a chance to see Sessegnon in action and are wondering if they were right to hand Onomah over so easily.
