Tottenham Hotspur fans react as Fernando Llorente’s future is reported

It appears Fernando Llorente will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer. As reported by The Sun, the Spanish striker likely last potential appearance for Spurs will be the Champions League final against Liverpool in June.

The report claims that the 34-year-old will not be handed a new contract this summer, with his current deal expiring at the end of next month. He is, therefore, free to talk to new clubs about a free transfer, with Italian side Napoli keen.

Llorente was signed from under the nose of close rivals Chelsea in 2017 for a fee reported by ESPN to be in the region of £12 million. Signed as the back-up to Harry Kane after Vincent Janssen’s failures, he had just completed a successful season with Swansea City in the top-flight.

He has struggled to find consistent form or playing time at Tottenham. However, fans will still be sad to see him go.

He was a hero in the second half against Ajax in midweek. He proved the catalyst for the incredible turnaround which saw Tottenham reach their first ever Champions League final so will always have a place in the hearts of fans.

On top of that, he never complained, always played with a smile on his face and had a good rapport with the Tottenham supporters.

Plenty of teams will be looking to sign the player, from Italy, Spain and even in England after his recent display against Ajax proved he still has a role that can be fulfilled.

Tottenham fans on Twitter certainly sound sad to be seeing him go…
