During the recent football lockdown, plenty of the game’s best have been taking to eSports to entertain their fans.

One of the more common games played has been FIFA 20.

That is set to continue this week, with Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli set to take on Juventus striker Paulo Dybala in a charity FIFA match.

The England international is taking on the Argentine in a clash in association with Gamers Without Borders with the proceeds going towards the global effort against the current worldwide health crisis.

But for Tottenham fans, the idea of Alli facing Dybala has certainly caused a stir.

That is because of Dybala’s previous strong links to a transfer to Tottenham from Juventus.

Last summer, it was one of the stories of the transfer window. Mauricio Pochettino was a big fan of his countryman and it seemed that Tottenham were ready to make a club-record swoop for the player.

As reported by The Independent, the move went down to the wire. A €70 million (£65m) transfer fee had been agreed but Tottenham could not get past a problem regarding the Argentine’s image rights being owned by a third-party. It was set to cost a monumental fee to purchase them and, ultimately it cost Dybala a move he reportedly wanted.

Unfortunately, as reported by Bleacher Report, another attempt for Tottenham to sign Dybala this summer is a ‘non-starter’.

However, that did not stop several fans on Twitter from wondering if Tottenham’s midfield maestro might be able to convince Dybala to join Spurs in the near future.
