Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria but face competition from some of Europe’s biggest sides – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
German newspaper Bild have claimed that Spurs are after 22-year-old Zakaria, who has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in German football since joining Gladbach from Young Boys in the summer of 2017.
Zakaria’s reputation has grown and grown since joining Gladbach, after coming through the ranks in Switzerland. Still only young, Zakaria has clocked up 75 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring seven goals from deep in midfield.
He is adept at playing in a number of positions, including right-back and centre-back as well as his natural position of defensive midfield. The report claims Tottenham are not the only side interested in landing Zakaria.
It is believes Manchester United also want to sign Zakaria, with Fred struggling and Nemanja Matic ageing. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are also said to be keen. His asking price is set at £43million.
Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their club want to sign Zakaria ahead of the January transfer window, and the majority of Spurs fans are keen to see him move to north London.
Very good player and a massive upgrade on Dier and Wanyama, would be a class signing🤞

Now we're talking. A proper DM who can also get forward. Dier has two months to prove he deserves to be at Spurs longterm. Needs to move those feet forward and stop with the giveaways.
