Tottenham Hotspur fans are not buying reports of Arthur Masuaku interest

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing a player from London rivals West Ham. Declan Rice maybe? Felipe Anderson? Maybe Marko Arnautovic? Apparently not. According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are looking into the signature of West Ham United left-back Arthur Masuaku.

The report claims that Spurs, along with Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund are keen on the DR Congo international, who has just one year left on his deal with the Hammers.

The 25-year-old has ‘caught the eye’ of Mauricio Pochettino in his recent performances. With Danny Rose’s future at Spurs seemingly uncertain, Masuaku is being looked at as a potential replacement.

The immediate reaction from most Tottenham fans has been less than positive.

Many just do not feel Masuaku is good enough and, for all his qualities, they probably have a point. The former Olympiakos man certainly carries a threat going forward, but his defensive work leaves plenty to be desired and Tottenham fans are expecting a higher calibre of transfer target after reaching the Champions League final.

Others feel this is just the beginning of transfer rumour season, taking the report with a large pinch of salt.

Masuaku has certainly improved. However, other than his excellent fan chant set to the tune of Earth, Wind and Fire’s classic ‘September’ it is hard to see how he would improve Tottenham Hotspur.

The fans, are clearly not buying it…
