Tottenham Hotspur should exceed £26.3m to sign Benjamin Pavard
Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard is likely to be one of the most wanted men in football this summer. The Frenchman has gained a huge reputation in recent months, as he continues to thrive in the German Bundesliga.
After helping his side to promotion last term he has since gone on to establish himself in the top-flight and help the club finish dizzyingly high in the league compared to expectation.
Such form has seen him selected for the World Cup this summer, ahead of names such as Mamadou Sakho, Clement Lenglet and Layvin Kurzawa.
It has also attracted interest from bigger clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.
Back in March, it was reported by The Sun that Spurs were considering a £11 million bid for the defender this summer.
Such a link will not come as a surprise. Pavard is the perfect option for Tottenham. It appears Spurs will be losing Toby Alderweireld this summer. Therefore bringing in a gifted central defender is a must for the North London club. Whilst centre-back may be his best position, Pavard’s versatility will also make him a perfect Spurs recruit. The fluid operator can also play at right-back, central-midfield or even on the right-wing, such is his varied talent.
Sport.de recently suggested that even an offer of €30 million (£26.3 million) would not be enough to tempt Stuttgart into a sale.
But Spurs should certainly test the resolve of the German side. With rumours of Bayern Munich now lurking, Tottenham must move fast to try and get their hands on the perfect new recruit this summer.
Pavard could not only be the perfect replacement for Alderweireld, but he also brings much, much more to the table.
Finding out how much higher than £26.3 million they have to go would be a worthy cause from Tottenham this summer.
