Report: Atletico Madrid emerge as latest club interested in Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur will receive interest from Atletico Madrid for Christian Eriksen when the transfer window reopens in January, according to The Sun.

The Danish international has been the subject of intense interest throughout the summer window but for now, he remains a Tottenham player.

With his contract expiring next summer the January market looks like being a nervous one for Eriksen and Diego Simeone is apparently ready to pounce.

Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been reportedly interested during the summer months, but concrete offers weren’t forthcoming.

Should Eriksen choose the Wanda Metropolitano as his next destination, he would link-up with former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier.

The England right-back swapped London for Madrid during the summer and has helped his new team to three straight wins.

Atletico are set to approach Eriksen in January. He will have just six months left on his deal then and could decide his future lies in the Spanish capital.

TBR Verdict – Eriksen the only one who can end the speculation

Another day, another club linked with a move for contract rebel Eriksen.

Yesterday it was Inter Milan, today it’s Atletico. Does anybody want to hazard a guess which club will emerge as a potentially interested party tomorrow?

In all seriousness, the only person who can put an end to this constant speculation is now Eriksen.

There has been talks of fresh terms being put on the table by Tottenham and if that is the case Eriksen should either sign them or declare his intention to depart next summer.

That way everyone would know where they stand and the football can become Tottenham’s sole focus.
