Tottenham Hotspur can take heart from Aaron Connolly display in form of his Irish pal Troy Parrott

Tottenham Hotspur’s weekend suffering at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion was largely down to the performance of the Seagulls young Irish talent Aaron Connolly.

The 19-year-old was sensational for Brighton, scoring twice in the 3-0 win and justifying the faith manager Graham Potter has shown in him this season.

His performance could, however, be something of an omen for Tottenham, regarding their very own talented Irishman.

Troy Parrott is a player Tottenham fans have a lot of hope in. He has impressed with the club in pre-season and has shone for Ireland’s under-21s recently. In fact, he has actually outscored Connolly at that level. The Brighton man has one goal in 11 caps, Parrott already has three in just two caps.

He is currently the second-choice centre-forward for Tottenham behind Harry Kane, following the club’s failure to replace Fernando Llorente in the summer.

Whilst he struggled in his debut against Colchester United in the League Cup, he was not helped by the dwindling form of the senior players around him.

At just 17, he is two years younger than Connolly, who tore Tottenham’s defence apart this weekend.

Maybe this just shows why Tottenham might have to put some faith in the Dubliner this season.
