It has not been a dream move to Tottenham Hotspur so far for Gedson Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder joined the club on loan from Benfica in January, with a view to a permanent deal. As reported by The London Evening Standard, the deal is 18-months long and can be made permanent for a fee in the region of £43 million.
But it has been a tough transition for the 21-year-old. Fernandes has not yet started a Premier League game for the club and when he has, fans have been far from impressed with his displays.
Last night, he struggled against Norwich City in the FA Cup, eventually missing a crucial penalty as Tottenham were dumped out of the competition.

However, Tottenham fans should not be surprised by Fernandes’ poor form since arriving at the club. The youngster had been struggling for his best form at Benfica prior to the switch.
Fernandes had only started twice for Benfica in the league after falling out of favour with manager Bruno Lage. The two-cap international also suffered a broken metatarsal earlier in the season.
So Fernandes is short of match fitness, moving mid-season and has been out injured this term. Tottenham must have never expected him to start firing on all cylinders straight away.
Hopefully, he can get a good pre-season under his belt and be a much more potent threat next term.
