'He’s fast, he’s resilient, he’s strong': Conte says Spurs have a truly 'top' talent in their ranks
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has waxed lyrical about Spurs forward Son Heung-min ahead of their Premier League weekend fixture.
Conte was speaking about the South Korea international in response to a question about whether he could fill in for Harry Kane at No. 9.
Son has been incredible for Tottenham since joining in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported £22million.
That fee now looks like a bargain considering how well the 29-year-old has done over the years.
Son is closing in on 300 competitive appearances for Spurs and has registered 113 goals and 66 assists.
This season, he has six goals and two assists in the Premier League and Europa Conference League.
Conte, speaking ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Norwich, said he sees Son as a No. 10.
He also paid homage to Son’s “modern” traits that make him a “top” player.
“For me, with this system we’re playing we’ve two number 10s, but for me, they’re two strikers,” Conte told football.london.
“We’re playing with a number nine that is Kane, as a point of reference.
“Then two players very offensive, like Sonny and Lucas, in the starting XI because behind we have Bergwijn, Dele Alli, Lo Celso and Bryan Gil.
“For me, Sonny is a really, really good player, a top player. He’s a modern player.
“He has great quality. He’s fast, he’s resilient, he’s strong.
“When you have all these characteristics, it means that you’re a top player and Sonny has all these characteristics.”
