Tottenham are considering signing Marseille right-back Hiroki Sakai during the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
The 29-year-old has been with the French outfit since 2016 but is now attracting interest from Spurs.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bolster his options at full-back this summer and in that sense, the signing of Sakai meets his criteria.
Sakai played 19 games at right-back and nine at left-back last season, showcasing the versatility he would bring to the Spurs ranks.

His age may prove problematic though. The report claims that Spurs will target players who are under the age of 23 during the summer transfer window.
It seems likely that Spurs would sign Sakai to play right-back. A report back in April from the Evening Standard suggested that the club would listen to offers for both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.
TBR Verdict
Despite Sakai not meeting the criteria of being under the age of 23, he would still be a strong addition to the squad.
For starters, he can play in both full-back roles, which is a useful asset to boast.

A Japanese international, Sakai also has experience of playing in Europe and that should also put him in good stead.
Defensively he is probably a sounder option that Trippier and Aurier and there is every possibility that he will improve Pochettino’s squad.
Spurs need some reinforcements this summer and although the Marseille man wouldn’t be a spectacular signing, he would still represent a decent acquisition.
