It’s amazing what the pressure cooker environment of the football pitch can do to players and Tottenham showed last night they are a team struggling with aspects of their performance.

Spurs were seen off in the FA Cup by Middlesbrough as their long wait for a trophy continues. Antonio Conte, fresh from seeing his team hammer Leeds at the weekend, was once again left feeling frustrated following the game.

But the frustrations Conte is feeling were also evident among the players. And in Tottenham’s case, even amongst their very best players. According to Football.London, star forward Heung-Min Son was one player to run into trouble with a number of teammates at The Riverside. FL claims that Son was first embroiled in a spat with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg which then led to Eric Dier getting involved and berating the South Korean striker.

More worryingly for Tottenham, Harry Kane was als spotted laying into Son after another poor piece of play from the usually reliable Spurs star. These moments, of course, are all part and parcel of football.

Conte will be keen to see these sorts of frustrations not go any further. Things like this can soon lead to more trouble and the last thing the Italian needs is more trouble.

It was only at the weekend we saw Kane and Son looking like the close friends and teammates they’ve become over the years. But it just goes to show that simple moments can threaten even the tightest of bonds.

Spurs will, once again, have to recover. On field spats can be a good thing at times, too. They at least show the players care.
