Back in January, Tottenham were being linked with a move for Burnley flyer, Dwight McNeil, and as the race intensifies for the Clarets star, Jose Mourinho needs to be back in the picture.
Sky Sports claims this week that a number of clubs, including Juventus and Wolves, are keen on McNeil this summer. Interestingly in that report, there is no mention of interest from Spurs this time around.
But with McNeil being one of the top young players in the Premier League and surely going on to bigger and better things, Jose Mourinho surely needs to be making sure his team are in the conversation once again?
He’s certainly a player who would slot in nicely in north London. Spurs are heavily-reliant on Heung-Min Son down the left-hand side of the field, so having someone like McNeil would be a huge bonus.
Of course, January signing, Steven Bergwijn, can occupy those wide positions. But there’s something tantalising about the thought of seeing McNeil one on side and Bergwijn on the other.

Jose Mourinho might not exactly have the best reputation for bringing through young players in recent years but Spurs have a culture of young English talent within their ranks.
Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Harry Winks are just a few of the top young England stars on the books at the club.
Surely, then, McNeil must see that and feel Spurs would be a good opportunity for him?
Obviously, this one will be down to Mourinho, Levy, and the club deciding if the Burnley star is someone they want. But on the surface and in terms of securing talent for the future, there aren’t too many better out there at the moment than McNeil.
