Tottenham have offered a contract to Lyon’s powerhouse midfielder Tanguy Ndombele with designs on a summer move, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
They report that Daniel Levy has tabled a ‘financially significant’ offer to the player, a better deal than Tottenham have offered any player for quite some time.
Ndombele enjoyed a hugely impressive season in 2018/19, one of the high points of which was anchoring midfield as the Ligue 1 outfit blew Manchester City away on their own patch with a powerful, counter attacking display in September 2018.
And with Mousa Dembele having left a hole in the Tottenham midfield, it’s about time that Levy put his hand in his pocket to boost a squad that hasn’t seen any new faces since January 2018.

Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final is an outstanding achievement. But Liverpool made it last season as well and the way they transformed that from a freak, exciting one-off into a springboard was expensive, targeted recruitment the following summer.
Spurs simply have to follow suit, or they will only be treading water once more, and getting in Ndombele to add energy and quality to their midfield would be a huge step in the right direction.
But, having grown used to Levy’s lack of investment, Tottenham fans will likely only believe the arrival of a top-class operator when they see it.
