Tottenham Hotspur made their first signing of the January transfer window on Tuesday, bringing Timo Werner to N17.
On Tuesday evening, Spurs announced the arrival of the Germany international on an initial loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season.
Tottenham have the option to make the signing of Werner permanent in the summer, added the club’s official website.
Dan Kilpatrick, speaking to Sky Sports, has now looked ahead to what other business Spurs may do during the remainder of the January transfer window.
The Evening Standard’s chief football correspondent also gave his verdict on Tottenham’s signing of Werner, describing it as a “canny piece of opportunism”.

“I don’t think there’s a huge amount of money to spend so Spurs have to be creative,” he said on the Transfer Show, via the Sky Sports website.
“We are seeing that with the Werner deal which is a loan with an option. It’s a canny piece of opportunism from Spurs and that’s the type of deal they are going to have to do this month.
“I can’t see them spending north of £50m, paying big fees out this month, but they are going to be doing quite a bit of business.
“Because what the first half of the season has shown under Ange Postecoglou is that Spurs have enormous potential, but the squad is not strong enough.
“They have been really stretched by injuries and suspensions. Everyone also knows the struggles they have had defensively and obviously a centre-half is the top priority this month.”
Timo Werner gets second Premier League shot thanks to Tottenham
Werner is back in the Premier League and likely feels he has unfinished business after his difficult spell at Chelsea.
The 27-year-old joined the Blues to considerable fanfare in 2020, but ended up leaving two years later after just 10 goals from 56 outings.
Werner revived his career at Leipzig initially, with 16 goals and six assists from 40 appearances last term.
However, injuries restricted him to just 14 outings, 386 minutes of game time, two goals and one assist for his club in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, Tottenham get themselves a reinforcement in attack, with Son Heung-min away with South Korea for the Asian Cup and James Maddison on the sidelines with injury.
Spurs are currently trying to also sign Genoa and Romania defender Radu Dragusin.
