Tottenham have now made enquiry to sign £50m player

Tottenham have made an enquiry to sign Anthony Gordon amid Everton’s relegation struggles and fan discontent.

The Daily Mail report that Spurs, as well as Newcastle and Chelsea are keen once again on the Englishman before the end of the transfer window.

They claim that Spurs have asked about Gordon as they seek improved attacking options before the window slams shut.

A fee of £50 million is mentioned, as well as the suggestion that Everton may do business as they know they have to sell big to buy big this month.

The report also makes mention of the reaction of the Everton fans after their 2-1 loss against Southampton last weekend.

Gordon’s car was chased down the street and surrounded by angry supporters with the report saying he was told to ‘get out of our club’.

That may come into Gordon’s thinking, with clubs with European ambitions circling to try and take him away from the relegation battle.

There has been plenty of talk about Gordon and whether what he has done in his career so far merits a £50 million pricetag.

It seems unlikely Spurs would go near that valuation if they were to buy him, and it remains to be seen how much Everton demand this month.

They need to add goals to their team, although there is also uncertainty over the future of Frank Lampard in the Goodison Park dugout, which will also cast doubt over transfer policy.
