Tottenham etched themselves into the Premier League history books during today’s 2-1 win against Brighton.

Spurs welcomed the Seagulls to N17 as Ange Postecoglou aimed to return to winning ways after a 2-2 draw against Everton.

So, what did Tottenham do against Brighton today? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham join elite Premier League club

Well, only Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have managed to score in 36 consecutive Premier League games – and Tottenham have now become just the fourth side to achieve that feat.

Spurs have remarkably scored in all 36 Premier League matches since a 1-0 defeat to Wolves back in March 2023, netting 75 goals in that time, as shown by the BBC.

Strikes from Pape Matar Sarr and Brennan Johnson made it 36 consecutive Premier League outings with a goal, matching Liverpool and Manchester United’s records.

Only Arsenal have gone beyond that mark – the Gunners scored in 55 straight Premier League matches between May 2001 and November 2002.

Brighton have now conceded 40 goals in 24 Premier League outings so far this season – just eight teams have shipped more – whereas only Manchester City and Liverpool have scored more than Tottenham’s total of 49 goals in 23 games.

The Seagulls have also kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League this season – only Sheffield United have fewer with one – so the chances of this achievement being accomplished were high.

Spurs certainly had a good chance of joining Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal in this exclusive Premier League club as Heung-min Son returned to the squad too, and history has now been made.

Brighton could have also made history

On the flip side, Brighton also came close to making a bit of Premier League history today.

The Seagulls had never recorded a league double over Tottenham, but after December’s 4-2 win against Spurs at the Amex Stadium, it was on with victory in north London today.

However, an equaliser from Sarr and the stunning 95th minute winner from Johnson eventually crushed Brighton’s dreams after Pascal Gross had put the Seagulls 1-0 up.
