Liverpool have been reportedly told that a move to sign Norwich City defender Jamal Lewis will set Jurgen Klopp’s side back £20million, double what the Reds were looking to pay – and Tottenham have got to take advantage.
Lewis, 22, is one of a number of Norwich players that are expected to attract interest this summer after a decent campaign with the Canaries. Though relegated, Lewis and a number of players came through with pass marks.
Todd Cantwell, Emi Buendia, Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons are all expected to be on the move this summer with Norwich likely to cash in following relegation. Lewis is another, and the latest reports claim Liverpool are keen.
The Telegraph claimed Liverpool were looking to sign Northern Ireland international Lewis for just £10million, but that the Canaries want double that if they are to sell their left-footed defender.

It has plunged a move to Anfield in doubt – and Spurs must take advantage. Klopp’s side had eyed Lewis mainly because of his ability to play at left-back or in the middle of the defence, with the Reds needing cover in both areas.
Dejan Lovren’s exit and a lack of cover for Andy Robertson makes Lewis the ideal addition for Liverpool. But Tottenham are in a similar boat, following the exit of Belgian veteran Jan Vertonghen on a free.
Danny Rose is expected to leave and that leaves Ben Davies with little cover – Ryan Sessegnon is preferred as a winger and has been linked with a loan move to Fulham. Mourinho also wants a central defender.
So, at £20million, Spurs have got to take advantage of Liverpool only willing to pay half of Lewis’ asking price, by bringing the Luton-born star to Spurs – filling the hole left by Vertonghen, and solving two defensive issues.
