Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Arkadiusz Milik, with Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso, confirming he expects the club to lose ’20-30%’ of its squad this summer.

Speaking to Goal, the fiery Italian confirmed that he expects to see some movement in terms of players leaving Naples this summer.

That could mean the likes of Milik, Kalidou Kouliabaly, and midfielder, Allan, could all move away. All three have been linked with moves to the Premier League.

However, for Tottenham and Jose Mourinho, it is the situation surrounding Milik that will be of interest. Spurs have been linked with a big-money move for the Polish star, with a report from Tuttosport in May claiming Napoli may well demand around £50m for the striker.

And Gattuso has conceded that time might well be up for some of his squad, commenting:

“We don’t need to operate too much in the market,” the trainer told the press. “We have to see who’s going to leave us. Our chairman knows it – we speak about it every week. This is a strong team but I think that only 70-80% of the players will stay with us.”

Napoli recently tied down Dries Mertens to a new deal at the club. But while Mertens’ new contract is a boost to the club, the losses of the aforementioned trio will sting hard.

Milik, in particular, could be hard to replace. The Pole has notched 12 times this term in just 24 games.

And Milik fits that mould perfectly. It gives Jose Mourinho the chance to play a direct two up top or have someone who is a reputable back-up to the England skipper.

Milik would, of course, need some convincing on that part. Furthermore, Daniel Levy would also need convincing to part ways with around £50m for the forward.

But if Spurs do want to progress, signings like the Napoli star are going to help a lot.
