Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has praised Rodrigo Bentancur for his display on Wednesday night.

The Spurs midfielder shone as Antonio Conte’s charges ran out 2-0 winners at Brighton in the Premier League.

Bentancur provided the assist for Harry Kane to grab the second for Tottenham on the south coast.

The 24-year-old provided an incisive pass for Kane to race on to before slotting home in the 57th minute.

That goal wrapped up Spurs’ victory after Cristian Romero broke the deadlock in the 37th minute.

The Tottenham centre-back deflected Dejan Kulusevski’s low effort past Robert Sanchez and into the bottom-left corner.

Bentancur and Kulusevski have taken no time at all in becoming fan favourites at N17 following their January moves.

After the game, Roberts took to Twitter with a message praising Kane, Bentancur and the back four.

Kane also became the highest Premier League away goalscorer of all time with his effort against Brighton.

The Tottenham talisman now has 95 top-flight away goals from just 139 appearances.

Kane’s effort, his 178th Premier League goal overall, was also enough to see him surpass Frank Lampard (177) into fifth in the all-time scoring rankings.

A great result for Spurs, who find themselves with another victory following a loss.

Up next for Tottenham is a local derby as they welcome West Ham to north London on Sunday.

Can Spurs break this recent win-loss hex and record bragging rights over the east Londoners?
