Tottenham may have their next Harry Kane already at the club, he's only 17 - opinion
Some footage has emerged of Tottenham gem Jamie Donley and he’s showcasing all the talent to be the heir to Harry Kane’s throne.
The video resurfaced from a game that took place last month between Tottenham and Norwich, with Spurs under-18s winning 3-0.
Donley scored a wonderful long-range effort during that game and a video of his highlights has offered some food for thought.
The 17-year-old is, of course, a work in progress but it seems as though he’s got all the attributes to make the grade.
During the 2022/233 campaign, Donley has flitted between the under-18s and the under-21s.
He’s made 21 appearances in total, scoring four goals and registering four assists all whilst playing in a number of roles.
Much like Kane, his main qualities aren’t simply leading the line and playing as a striker.
Donley is spotted on the latest highlights reel dropping deep and bringing his teammates into play on a regular basis.
Not only is he doing it, but he’s dropping in and fizzing glorious passes all over the park in an emphatic fashion.
Donley has made two appearances for the Tottenham Academy in the Papa John’s Trophy this season so does have some experience playing against men.
At 17, that experience should serve him well and perhaps a loan spell will be forthcoming in the future.
Donley footage shows similarities to Harry Kane
A comparison between the two is perhaps a little bit harsh on the youngster, given that he’s still developing.
Kane is one of the best in the world at what he does and naturally Donley is in the infancy of his career.
Still, it seems as though he has a lot of similarities with the England striker and he could be a huge player for the club in the future.
Tottenham have a decent history of bringing young players through their ranks but much will depend on Antonio Conte.
It seems fair to say that he will be impressed with Donley and it will be interesting to see how his career pans out in the future.
